Abstract

This thesis investigate innovation and knowledge management in the fish feed industry, and how they administer knowledge. The thesis analyzes empirical findings from two case studies of two Norwegian fish feed producers. The theoretical approaches used in this thesis are concepts from innovation and knowledge management. The results demonstrate that it is important to have strong versions of both the STI and DUI modes of learning to avoid knowledge transfer to be an obstacle, the benefits of collaboration with other industry in order to innovate and that feedback creates an important knowledge base on which to innovate upon. The results also shows that the fish feed producers tend to focus on being market leaders instead of focusing on incremental innovations, and that the structure of the firm have an impact on the development of new ideas.
