Abstract

Developing a Plan for Evaluating English Language Arts in Transitional Kindergarten Transitional Kindergarten (TK) is an opportunity given to children in California who were born in the fall to be enrolled in a two-year kindergarten program. Specifically these children are those born between September 2nd and December 2nd. This means they would be up to nine months younger than their peers when they register for kindergarten. Previously, California had one of the latest kindergarten entry cutoff dates that allowed children as young as four to enter kindergarten (Cannon & Lipscomb, 2008).
