Works cited: pages 43-44. 'Rapid modernization of post-war Korea resulted in dramatic cultural changes. It impacted many lifestyles, society, and objects. This phenomenon happened without Koreans paying attention to their heritage. For this reason, this thesis will examine new forms of contemporary Korean furniture designed specifically for Generation Y. It will involve developed functional solutions for modern Korean life. These forms and solutions are strongly linked or inspired by traditional Korean furniture or cultural elements. Given the millennial generation’s curiosity about their Korean heritage, my designs acknowledge and pay respect to these elder traditions by infusing them with traditional or nostalgic Korean characteristics.'
