Abstract

Works cited: page 47. 'This thesis will take you through the process of one performer’s journey from performance-based improvisation to writing sketches for a live television format. This thesis highlights the improvisation training as well as the pros and cons of performing in self-written material. This thesis also asks what is the role of a provocateur in this society and is it important to produce material even if it will be offensive. The ultimate purpose of this thesis is to give the reader insight into how improvisation and sketch gives a performer tools to be an artist who does not only look to others to provide work, but also self-generates performance worthy material.'
