Abstract

2D seismic data have been analysed to study the Cenozoic pre-glacial sedimentary environment on the southwest Barents Sea margin and the Lofoten Basin. Based on a seismic stratigraphic analysis and correlation to previous work in the area, the pre-glacial seismic unit G0 has been subdivided into four. The four units have been described and discussed with regards to the geometry and internal seismic facies, and the sedimentary processes and depositional environment dominating during the deposition of the seismic units have been outlined.
