The purpose of this project was to develop a small group-counseling curriculum to help students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) transition from pre-kindergarten into kindergarten, as well as increase cognitive flexibility and reduce anxiety. Children with ASD usually struggle with change and transitions. The curriculum will consist of eight weekly small group-counseling sessions, which will provide the necessary resources to the students to cope with the transition. The students will complete a pre-test during the first session and spend three weeks working on activities to increase cognitive flexibility. They will spend an additional two weeks learning to identify feelings and emotions. Lastly, they will spend two weeks learning tools to reduce anxiety. During the last session the students will complete a post-test.
