The Goos-H????anchen (longitudinal) and Imbert-Fedorov (transverse) shifts show that the center of the reflected beam is shifted and doesn't follow the laws of geometrical optics. The beam has to have finite width and be totally internally reflected at an interface of two media having different indices of refraction. Because these shifts are very small (on the wavelength scale) the weak measurements, known from the quantum mechanics, allow to amplify and measure such small phenomena. In this paper the Goos-H????anchen and Imbert-Fedorov spatial shifts were measured experimentally via weak measurement technique which was observed for a linearly polarized beam at total internal reflection.
