Abstract

The concepts, the procedures and the methods of land evaluation proposed by the FAO framework were introduced. The relationships between two types of data models and land evaluation were discussed. The vector data model is more suitable for the FAO framework. ArcView provides a language environment. The users can customize interface for specific application by Avenue in ArcView. The thesis developed an interface for the FAO land evaluation purpose by adding new functions to the system. The new tools, coupled with existing ones, perform automatic land evaluation processing. This thesis also developed a matching method algorithm for the ArcView tabular data by using "List" class. The table creation tools developed in the thesis are more convenient than system table editor in terms of land quality conversion and gross margin analysis.
