Abstract

All biological assays are subject to variability in response. The variability may be of biological or mechanical origin, and its presence imposes limitations upon the accuracy of the interpretations of the assay. Since accuracy is of fundamental importance in the practical application of these assays, any modifications in present procedures which will reduce variation wil1 likewise inarease the precision of the test and thereby increase its usefulness.[...]
