A new physical technique for measuring carbon dioxide concentrationwas developed by Dingle and Pryce in 1941 (1). Thedevelopment of this technique and its application to some plantphysiological problems is reported in this thesis•Being exploratory in nature the thesis is necessarily somewhatdiffuse and disjointed* It is divided into the followingsections, united however by a common themei1. A description of the apparatus including modificationswhich have been made in it,ana an analysis of its capacitiesand potentialities*2. Exemplification of its physiological use by means ofa series of studies, not closely connected in subject matter, but selected because they illustrate the peculiarvalue of the technique for obtaining data of critical valuein particular problems*
