Abstract

Using a variational method with a six-parameter wave function, a study is made of a possible bound state of a three-particle system, consisting of two hyperons and one nucleon (L-L-n). The hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon potentials are inferred from the phenomenological nucleon-nucleon potentials of Gammel and Thaler (1), by neglecting K-meson exchange and assuming global symmetry of the pion coupling. Both tensor and spin-orbit forces are neglected. The results of the calculations indicate that the system L-L-n is most likely unbound.
