Abstract

"For many years the fact has been known that when two or more of the coloring oxides are intimately mixed together and fired, there is a reaction between the components of the mixture. Little is known of these reactions - whether they are chemical, physical or mineralogical changes in the nature of the substances. The purpose of this investigation has been to ascertain the true nature of these reactions and the effect of the changes in the two components making up the system, upon their uses as underglaze and overglaze colors as applied in the ceramic industry" – Introduction, p. 1.
