Abstract

"The rapid growth of the coal washing industry in the United States during the past few years is characteristic of the general tendency toward more economical and efficient utilization of the natural resources, the washing of coal being a process of enrichment of one of the most necessary and widely used raw products. This industry is of great importance to the men engaged in mining of coal as well as to the community at large, and since it makes possible the use of originally poor coals, it conserves one of the natural resources absolutely essential for the progress of the human race" – Historical, p. 1.
