Abstract

"The tests herein reported were conducted with the idea of finding a steel which would give improved wear as roll shells in the comminution of ores...Not only must the wear be considered, but also the physical properties. It is desirable to have a steel of such Tensile and impact values that no failure by breakage would occur until the shell was worn very thin. The ideal condition being to wear the shell down to zero thickness, but such cannot be accomplished" – Introduction, p. 2.
