Abstract

"The zinc ores mined at and near Mascot, Tennessee, are found in the upper part of the Knox dolomite which according to Keith was laid down in the middle Cambrian or Silurian age. This formation has a thickness of several thousand feet and is composed of layers of dolomite, limestone, sandstone, shale and some chert. The ore bearing portion at least is much folded with minor faulting and high brecciation. The axis of the folds lie Northeast by Southwest with the faulting in the same direction. The ore being mined is found on the Southeast dip in a fairly definite horizon roughly following the bedding planes." – Introduction, Page [1].
