Abstract

Little research has been carried out on the status of the Negro worker in the Pacific Northwest. The small percentage of the total population represented in this group and the fact that its members are scattered over so many occupations in such few numbers probable explains this absence of attention by students of labor problems. this neglect of research on Negro labor in the region, stand in sharp contrast to the large amount of research in other parts of the United States. Such works as The Black Worker by Spero and Harris, Black Workers and the New Unions by Cayton and Mitchell, and The Negro Labor Unionist in New York by C.H. Franklin are well known studies in Negro labor in the East, Middle-West and South.
