Experiments on fire and combustion date back to prehistoric age, gathering more and more impetus with progress of time. But with the advent of aircraft gas turbines and the science of rocketry, necessitating the development of high output combustion chambers, the scope and tempo of combustion research have increased at an amazing rate introducing new facts and developing new concepts in the science of combustion.
