Abstract

"The purpose of this thesis was to study the relation of the loss of silver chloride to such variables as the temperature, as the type of gangue, as the method of carrying on the roast; to determine what becomes of the silver lost and to attempt to recover it. In our work we consider something seemingly overlooked by many, if not all of the workers; namely, that there is a great loss of silver chloride due to absorption, as well as to volatilization. Volatilization has been the hobby of most of the experimeters. We hope to show as a part of our work the great importance of the absorption loss" – Problem, p. [1].
