Abstract

"Concentration of the Joplin slimes by means of flotation is a subject receiving considerable attention at the present time, due to high price of zinc. These slimes are the accumulation of the finer particles of the ore during the milling process, and their zinc content is well worth considering. The practice in the past has been to sluice these slimes into the tailing pond, as no economical method of saving the zinc had been employed. The object of our experiment was to economically extract from these slimes by flotation, a product of sufficient zinc content to be of commercial value" – Introduction, p. 1.
