Abstract

The principal goal is to create a place where men and women/married couples can go during their leisure hours for athletic recreation. Instead of sitting at I home in front of a television set one can use his time much more constructively with a good game of squash, tennis or handball. Good competitive sports such as those I mentioned are both mentally and physically stimulation to the participant. A relief from the frustrations and anxiety built up at the office can rejuvenate the mental disposition of the individual. The sport as well will give him the much needed exercise he or she did not get behind a desk. Besides being mentally and bodily invigorating the tennis or squash court is an excellent way to make new acquaintances and friends. A facility such as proposed in this program will bring about a stimulating interaction among students, professionals, and other members of the community. Lubbock is a growing community; hopefully new ideas and activities will be a part of this growth. Any activity to make Lubbock a more desirable place to live is a positive community input. The proposed indoor Tennis/Squash club for downtown Lubbock will help vitalize the area for all involved.
