Abstract

The purpose of this study was to compare the change in marks from the grade seven June examination to the grade eight Easter examination of one group taught effective learning skills through the medium of a regular grade eight history course, with a second group which experienced nondirective group counseling, and with a control group. The change in marks of a control group which received no special treatment was used as the base line of normal school progress in the two criterion subjects of history and English.
