Abstract

Beauchastel Township is west of the Township of Rouyn, and occupies an important position on the axis of the well-recognized zone of weakness along which mineral deposits occur, and which passes through Kirkland Lake and Noranda, and thence eastward in the Province of Quebec. The region was prospected and developed at the time of the discovery of gold and copper at Noranda, and though its history has not been as bright as that of the neighbouring township, a number of deposits of economic value have been operated.
