Abstract

"The investigation of return flow on the North Platte River, between Whalen, Wyoming and North Platte, Nebraska, was authorized by House Bill No. 308, "Flood control Act," Mississippi River and Tributaries, February, 28, 1929. The purpose of this study was to determine, if possible, the amount of return flow from the United States Reclamation Service "North Platte Irrigation Project", and its effect on the future development of irrigation in the North Platte Valley, flood control of the North Platte River, and it's ultimate effect upon navigation possibilities of the Missouri River. The particular phase of the above problem of which this paper has a bearing, is the effect of the return flow of the North Platte River on the future development of irrigation in the North Platte Valley and the resultant change in the flow habits of the stream" – Introductory, p. 1.
