Abstract

"Recent work, (1933-34) in southeastern Missouri by the Missouri Geological Survey has shown that deposits of bleaching clay occur in the Porters Creek formation of Tertiary age. Various localities in Scott and Stoddard counties are described, in which favorable conditions for development exist. The method of testing the clay for bleaching power is treated briefly. Suggestions are offered in regard to prospecting, mining and milling" – Abstract, p. 5.
