Abstract

Regarding previous investigations carried out on the chemical composition of timothy and wheat plants, very little work has been made upon wheat roots, no report has been made upon timothy bulbs and no separation has been made of the timothy stalks and heads. Moreover, all of the reported results willustrations vary according to the season and the character and treatment of the soil. It seems advisable therefore to undertake the analyses of a series of cuttings of timothy and wheat grown in a single season and make these analyses upon all the parts of the plant. The present work was planned with this idea in view.
