Abstract

"The object of this thesis was to determine the microstructure of the various grades of steel used in rock drilling and to obtain if possible some general relation between the structure, composition, and hardening temperature. About 35 of the best known grades of tool steel having a carbon content of about 1 per cent or containing an equivalent hardening agent" – p. 2.
