Abstract

By utilizing the methods of optimal control theory, state regulator and tracking problems are solved by using a unique search method to minimize the performance index. The search method uses sensitivity equations to minimize the cost function. Linear observer theory is used to implement optimal control when states are physically unmeasurable. The technique is applied to a manual control problem.
