Abstract

The thesis main aim was to investigate wheter the LDC state has become less relevant in attracting FDI and using it for development. Through a preliminary OSL regression analysis and a case study of Bangladesh I found that the LDC state, to a limitited degree, has become less relevant in maximising the benefits of FDI. This stemmes from the fact that thorough liberalisation has become increasingly important for attracting FDI and the fact that there is a trade off between economic liberalisation and the policies that are best suited for maximising the benefits of FDI.
