Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network WSN has recently emerged as a frontier newlinein networking research due to the technological advancements in the area of newlinesensing computing and wireless communication WSN provides an newlineeconomical fully distributed and quick solution for environments where newlineconventional networks are impractical Low cost wireless sensors are newlineembedded in the real world and interact closely with the physical environment newlinein which they reside The WSN must be designed to effectively deal with the newlinenetwork s dynamically changing resources including available energy newlinebandwidth processing power node density and connectivity Providing newlineQuality of Service QoS support to a WSN is still an active research area newlineQoS can be provided to a WSN in several ways namely per flow per link and newlineper node QoS parameters differ from application to application Some of the newlinecharacteristics like dynamically varying topology lack of central coordination newlineerror prone channels mobility of nodes and limited availability of resources newlinemake QoS provision very challenging This thesis makes a number of newlinecontributions The performances of these protocols have been compared with newlineother existing protocols including design and development of reliable newlineprotocols security protocols routing protocols and coverage preserving newlineprotocols newline newline%%%reference p270-295.
