Abstract

E waste the waste arising from discarded electronic components is newlineone of the fastest growing waste streams containing hazardous materials newlinePrinted circuit boards PCBs are an essential part of almost all electronic newlineEquipments PCBs contain abundance of toxic substances like heavy metals newlinesuch as copper lead solder and nickel along with iron in large quantities newlineThese toxic metals can leach out and cause ecological and public health newlineImpacts Therefore the recovery recycling of metals from PCBs are most newlineessential to avoid the environmental pollution newlineThe most active research area on the recovery of metals from ewaste newlineis by hydrometallurgical techniques The main steps in newlinehydrometallurgical processing consist of leaching of solid material The newlinesolutions are then subjected to separation and purification procedures such as newlineprecipitation, solvent extraction adsorption ion exchange and membrane newlineprocesses to isolate and concentrate the metals of interest The solutions are newlinethen treated by electrorefining process cementation or crystallization for newlinemetal recovery newline%%%reference p167-185.
