Abstract

At any point of time a power system operating condition should be newlineStable meeting various operational criteria and it should also be secure in the newlineevent of any credible contingency Maintaining a stable and secure operation newlineof a power system is therefore a very important and challenging issue newlineVoltage instability has been given much attention by power system newlineresearchers and planners in recent years and is being regarded as one of the newlinemajor sources of power system insecurity In current power market control of newlineactive and reactive power flow in a transmission line becomes a necessity newlineaspect Entry of more power generation companies has increased the need for newlineenhanced secured operation of power systems which are facing the threat of newlinevoltage instability leading to voltage collapse and also for minimization of newlineactive power loss leading to reduction in electricity cost Also the stable newlineoperation of the power system networks revolves around improving voltage newlineprofile minimizing power transmission loss An aspect of interest here is newlinequantifying the loss accurately and adopting measures to minimize the loss newlinethereby resulting in improved power transfer capability newline newline%%%appendix p262-278, reference p279-287.
