Abstract

In the manufacturing sector especially in the automobile and the newlineaerospace industries there is a perpetual demand for producing complex newlineshapes on various materials Steel alloys are commonly used in automobile newlineindustries to manufacture body panels decorative panels wipers mufflers newlineand trims other components such as batteries lighting and braking and newlinestructural applications newlineIncremental forming is an ideal technique to obtain customized newlineproducts accurately with complex shapes It is a flexible and innovative dieless newlinesheet metal forming process which allows the production of various newlineshapes by progressively applying a series of localized deformations using newlineconventional tool in a CNC Machine newlineIncremental forming has been successfully applied to aluminum newlineAlloys magnesium alloys and pure titanium sheets to form a variety of simple newlineShapes though some unresolved issues still exist The process requires precise newlinedigital computer aided design that represents the part to be manufactured newlineinvolving low manual work Thus the repeatability of the process is very newlinegood However the surface properties of formed sheet need to be evaluated newlineoptimized and modeled to obtain high quality prototypes newline newline%%%reference p185-199.
