Abstract

In the past of a few decades we have seen the advancement in wireless networks The emerging capabilities of mobile devices have given a new direction to the internet which decreases the cost and allow us to use infrastructure wireless networks and infrastructure less wireless networks ie Mobile Adhoc Wireless Network With so many applications that mobile Adhoc networks provides us there are still some challenges that have to overcome We can characterize the life cycle of mobile Adhoc networks into first second and third generation networks The present Adhoc network is considered as the third generation networks The first generation of Adhoc network can be traced back to 1970s In 1970s this was known by packet radio networks The defence advanced research project agency initiated research by using packet switched radio communication to provide reliable communication between computers and urbanized packet radio networks Basically a packet radio network uses the combination of areal location of hazardous atmospheres and carriers sense multiple access for multiple access and distance vector routing Packet radio networks are then evolved into the survivable adaptive radio network in the early 1980s The survivable adaptive radio network provides some benefits by improving the radio performance making them smaller cheaper and power thrifty Survivable adaptive radio network also provides resilience to electronic attacks Around the same time department of defence continued funding for programs such as global mobile information system and near term digital radio Global mobile information systems make use of carrier sense multiple access collision avoidance and time division multiple access and provides self organizing and self healing network ie ATM over wireless Satellite Communication Network The near term digital radio makes use of clustering and link state routing and organized an Adhoc network The near term digital radio is worn by the US Army This is the only real Adhoc network in use newlineBy the growing interest%%%
