Abstract

Coastal area is an entity of land and water affected by the biological newlineand physical processes of both sea and land It is estimated that nearly one newlinecoastline is often struck by events like cyclones and storm surges with the newlinemore recent tsunami giving rise to an unforeseen perspective of the natural newlinecalamity scenario Each hazard is characterized by its location intensity and newlineprobability Hence there arises the need to formulate strategies for hazard newlinevulnerability assessments to mitigate the disastrous impacts of these hazards newlineVulnerability is a set of conditions and processes resulting from newlinephysical social economical and environmental factors which increase the newlinesusceptibility of a community to the impact of hazards newline newline%%%Reference p.246-269
