Abstract

Silver and silver based compounds possess strong bacteriocidal and fungicidal activity Also Silver has a lower propensity to stimulate microbial resistance than many other antimicrobial agents Silver nanoparticles are found to be non toxic to humans but most effective against bacteria virus and other eukaryotic micro organism at lower concentrations Most of the chemical methods used for the synthesis of nanoparticles are too expensive and are found to be responsible for various biological risks But synthesis of nanoparticles using plant extracts is the most adopted method as green eco friendly production of nanoparticles and also has a special advantage in such a way that the plants are widely distributed easily available much safer to handle and act as a source of several metabolites rich in pharmacological constituents Hence a novel approach for synthesizing silver nanoparticles using four plants extracts namely Camellia sinensis Lucas aspera Holoptelea integrifolia and Wrightia tinctoria was demonstrated newlineThe reduction of silver ions to silver nanoparticles was identified by the appearance of the brownish red colour which indicates the formation of silver nanoparticles The formed nanoparticles were found to be stable and are uniformly distributed throughout the solution The characteristic peaks formed in between 430nm and 445nm obtained by UV spectrophotometry analysis confirmed the presence of silver nanoparticle formation The broadening of the peak indicates the uniform distribution and polydispersion of silver nanoparticles newline%%%reference p134-148.
