Abstract

The Optical Code Division Multiple Access OCDMA outperforms newlineall other optical network coding techniques due to its potential to exploit the newlinesurplus bandwidth of optical fibers It indeed carries the benefits of CDMA newlineradio communication systems to optical domain The key benefits of newlineOCDMA include elimination of channel contention simplified network newlineoperation and management ability to accommodate additional users with less newlinecost and complexity effective sharing of the spectrum for multiple network newlinesubscribers and resistance to jamming and eavesdropping newlineIn this dissertation the OCMDA technique with several variants of newlinecoding schemes and transmitter parameters are implemented and analyzed newlineover Free Space Optics FSO The FSO has its own attraction over wired newlineand RF channels due its properties like high bandwidth unlicensed spectrum newlineease of installation and high secure in nature However the performance of newlinethe OCDMA over FSO is greatly influenced by various channel newlinecharacteristics including absorption induced attenuation scintillation newlineinfluenced atmospheric turbulence newlineIn order to analyze and improve the performance characteristics of newlineFSO communication systems such as Bit Error Rate BER Q factor and Eye newlineDiagram the various OCMDA coding techniques newline newline%%%reference p164-172.
