Abstract

Automation is proposed to be applied in the field of material handling in a manufacturing environment Material handling is the art and science of moving positioning packing and storing substances in any form Automation in material handling leads to reduced cost of the product improved consistency of product improved comfortability of labour and also contribute to development of labour safety The material handling devices are generally designed around standard machines and integrated with specially made feeders newlineVibratory part feeders are more commonly used in industries such as food processing plastic component manufacturing, automobiles etc Part feeders are essential to feed the parts at specific rate in a desired orientation for assembly process Cordero 2004 stated that the design of industrial part feeders could consume months of time and is a trial and error process newlineFrom detailed literature survey it has been found that works on development of part feeding systems for complex asymmetric parts such as sector shaped parts are very limited But there is a need in manufacturing industries for part feeding devices in order to improve their productivity The primary objective of this research work is to design and develop a part feeding system for handling typical sector shaped parts newline newline%%%reference p152-157.
