Abstract

The depletion of petroleum crude leads to a massive energy newlinedemand for the next generation The unwanted gaseous product formation newlinewas very high during the burning of fossil fuel In order to overcome the newlineenergy crisis it is essential to find an efficient alternative fuel Biomass is one newlineof the easily available sources on the planet and it has received considerable newlineattention for the energy demand Biomass is an important renewable newlinealternative source for fuels and value added chemicals The major newlinecomponents present in the biomass are cellulose hemicelluloses and lignin newlineThe oxygen containing compounds such as lignin cellulose and vegetable oils newlinewere subjected to upgrading process and it produces oxygen rich bio oil The newlineremoval of oxygen from bio crude improves the fuel properties One such newlinepreferred method for removal of oxygen can be via hydrodeoxygenation newline HDO The up gradation of biomass can be effectively initiated by newlineWell known hydrotreating supported Ni Mo support catalyst Considerable newlineamount of work has been done in identifying the most suited best catalyst for newlinethis purpose In this present work attempt has been made to employ various newlinemesoporous silica metal incorporated silica and composites of these with newlinealumina as supports for Ni Mo catalyst and study their efficiency for HDO of newlinesome model compounds present in wood derived biomass newline newline%%%reference p147-153.
