Abstract

Image compression has become an active area of research in the newlinefield of image processing and the need for an efficient technique for newlinecompression of images is increasing because of the need for large amounts of newlinedisk space which is a major limitation during transmission and storage newlineThough many compression techniques are already available a better newlinetechnique which is faster memory efficient and simple would satisfy the newlinerequirements of the user newlineDue to the importance of image compression it has also been used newlinein medical data compression Medical image analysis has become a vital newlineaspect in the field of image processing and a number of research have been newlinecarried out in securing the medical image data Volumetric medical images newlinesuch as Magnetic Resonance Imaging MRI and Computed Tomography newline CT sequences have become essential in healthcare systems and is an integral newlinesegment of a patients medical record Hospitals and medical centers produce newlinelarge volume of digital image sequences which needs substantial storage newlinespace Compression of medical images for efficient use of storage space and newlinetransmission bit rate has become a necessity Along with the compression the newlineneed for security of data has also increased due to the influence of hackers newlineand intruders The security of medical data security has been thoroughly newlineinvestigated in recent years newline newline%%%reference p115-121.
