This project is concerned about the non- humanitarian motives behind the Russian support of the Assad government regime in Syria, and the refusal to back up four resolutions in the UNSC. The realist perspective will provide some of the underlying mechanisms of self-interests in relation to Russia’s behaviour in the UNSC. The Solidarist perspective acts as a normative framework for legitimate humanitarian intervention.
