Abstract

Our project explores sex trafficking in Europe, ultimately formulating that perspectives vary based on cultural norms and ethical theories. Narrowing in on the route between Nigeria and Denmark, we have taken into account historical and cultural push and pull factors. We have also chosen to focus on three specific philosophical theories – the ethical demand, utilitarianism, and relativism – to provide a nuanced analysis of sex trafficking in regard to morality. Our chosen dimensions show a divergence in opinion, leading us to discover that sex trafficking is more complex than we originally perceived. Based on our research we have concluded that sex trafficking is a pressing problem, which will not be solved in the immediate future. We urge that factors like public awareness, poverty, government corruption, immigration law, and overall global inequality must be addressed if progress is to occur.
