Abstract

The purpose of this project is to understand to what extent Belgium have a national identity in spite of the linguistic and cultural divide between Wallonia and Flanders. The project has been applied to both sociological and political viewpoints, analysing some of the different factors that have an influence on the national identity. The theories we haven chosen to use in our “Imagined communities” theory by Benedict Anderson, Mass Media theory and Minority theory.
