This project aims to display how Copenhagen Airport can be seen as a different kind of place when looking at it from different point of views. This report presents theories by Marc Augé, Tim Cresswell and Michel Foucault in order to look at the airport as a non-place or a place. In order to understand the airport in the context of a globalized world we have included Appadurai’s theory as well as methods that will help us find the elements that make it a national place. In order to get different insights, we conducted three interviews with travelers, we observed a specific area of Copenhagen Airport, and analyzed the internal design and one of the advertisements by using Barthes’ social semiotics approach.
