Abstract
This thesis examines the impact that the eventful year 1989 has on the global political situation in the 2010's. This study is a case study which focus is on the collapse of the Berlin Wall and on the Tiananmen protests. These events and their legacy is reflected with the help of liminality and rational choice theory.
