DOF’s Integrating Livelihoods and Conservation Program with the main objective to “[r]educe the destruction of forested IBAs and contribute to the realisation of best participatory forest management practices for the benefit of all” has been assessed on the basis of a multiplicity of material relating to the Program just named. All documents have been analyzed and discussed according to three working questions, these being related to theory as chosen for this project, the degree of placing conservation before development as well as possible rules and regulations shaping DOF’s approach. It can be stated that even though DOF’s approach in Integrating Livelihoods and Conservation does not constitute an entirely new approach, it nevertheless differs from the mainstream practices in international development as named in this project.
